A47 Road Closure Between Acle And Cucumber Lane – Monday 3 October and Tuesday 4 October

National Highways will be carrying out essential resurfacing works on the A47 westbound between Acle and Cucumber Lane.
 
They plan to complete this work over 2 nights on Monday 3 October and Tuesday 4 October. They will work between 8pm and 6am, weather conditions permitting.
 
To carry out the work safely, they will need to close the A47 westbound to strategic traffic between Acle and Trowse Newton and divert traffic as detailed below:
 
Westbound strategic traffic will be diverted off the A47 onto the A143 and A146 to re-join the A47 at Trowse Newton.

Scam emails

Watch out for emails apparently from your friends, asking if you are available for a chat, or to help them out with something… even if it appears to come from the right email account…. there’s one this morning from “Vernon”. These are scams…. if in doubt about an email, ring your friend to check…

There is a Public Meeting to discuss the proposal to add an Autistic Spectrum Disorder Specialist Resource Base at Acle Academy on Tuesday 27th September between 5.00pm and 6.00pm at the school.

Road closure at Billockby 3rd – 5th October

NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Order affecting the A1064 Main Road from its junction with B1152 Main Road (at Billockby) for 100m north-eastwards in the PARISH OF FLEGGBURGH because of sewer pipe installation works.
 
The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) from 3rd to 5th October 2022 for the duration of the works expected to be about 3 days within the period.
 
The diversion is via the Acle Straight…

Guidance for the period of national mourning

“The government has published guidance for the period of national mourning, to run until the day of the Queen’s funeral, which says:
– there is no obligation on organisations to suspend business
– public services will run as normal, although there may be some changes to availability
– no requirement to cancel or postpone events and sport fixtures, or close entertainment venues
– public museums, galleries or similar venues are not obliged to shut.”

Acle – Book of Condolence

A Book of Condolence is now available at Acle St Edmund’s Church until the day of the funeral 10-4 every day. Another book will be placed in Acle Methodist Church at 2pm today. This book will move to various places, including local care homes and sheltered housing, so that everyone who wishes to can sign. The book will be at the Methodist Church for several days.

Proclamation of the Accession at NCC and BDC

The Proclamation of the Accession

Following the sad death of Her Majesty the Queen, Queen Elizabeth II, the High Sheriff of Norfolk will read the Proclamation of the Accession outside on the steps at County Hall on Sunday, 11th September at 1pm.
Members of the public are welcome to attend. The Lord-Lieutenant, Chairman of Norfolk County Council, the Bishop of Norwich, Chief Constable and Leader of Norfolk County Council will be in attendance.
The reading of The Proclamation of the Accession will then take place at 1.30pm at Broadland District Council’s offices, which are located at:

As a public event, The Proclamation of the Accession enables us to come together following the passing of our late Sovereign, Her Majesty the Queen, Queen Elizabeth II. The basis on which the monarchy is built ensures that the Crown has passed in an unbroken line of succession.

The Accession Council proclaims our new Sovereign and our important role as a District is to ensure that we also read out The Proclamation of Accession to mark the start of His Majesty’s reign.

A47 night closures

National Highways have sent notice of essential survey works on the A47 between Acle and Vauxhall Roundabout at Yarmouth.

In order to carry out the surveys safely, we will need to close the A47 in both directions between Acle and Vauxhall roundabout for 4 nights from Monday 22 August to Thursday 26 August between 8pm and 6am.

 Diversions

Eastbound traffic will be diverted off the A47 at Norwich onto the A146 and A143 to re-join the A47 and continue their journey. Westbound traffic will follow the same diversion but in reverse.”
