  • The Cinnamon Trust needs more dog walking volunteers in Acle

The Cinnamon Trust is the national charity whose wonderful volunteers help people over retirement age and those in the latter stages of a terminal illness by offering all kinds of free pet care. We are looking for dog walking volunteers to support a resident of Acle and their dog who would love some extra walks.

Many elderly or ill pet owners worry about their ability to provide proper care for their animals and start looking to rehome what may be their only companion.  This is where our national network of dedicated volunteers step in to offer support enabling them to stay together.  We’ll walk the dog for a housebound owner, we’ll foster pets when owners need hospital or hospice care, and even clean out the bird cage or litter trays.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, you can download our volunteer registration form from our web site www.cinnamon.org.uk or email us at [email protected]  If you would like to have a more in-depth chat about becoming a volunteer, please call us during office hours (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm) on 01736 758 701, or you can check out our website www.cinnamon.org.uk  for more details.

The Cinnamon Trust is a Registered Charity No: 1134680. The Cinnamon Trust is a limited company registered in England and Wales. Registered Office: 10 Market Square, Hayle, Cornwall, TR27 4HE. Company Number 07004861

  • Scam emails

Watch out for emails apparently from your friends, asking if you are available for a chat, or to help them out with something… even if it appears to come from the right email account…. there’s one this morning from “Vernon”. These are scams…. if in doubt about an email, ring your friend to check…

  • A47 dualling to go ahead

    From Highways England:

We’ve just been informed that our Development Consent Order for our A47 Blofield and North Burlingham scheme has been granted by the Secretary of State.  You can view the decision letter here.

We’re delighted with this decision which means we can now progress to dual 1.6 miles (2.6km) of the existing single-lane section, remove unsafe side roads and improve safety with two new junctions with overbridges for the B1140 and to connect Blofield and Burlingham.

The scheme will reduce congestion, improve journey time and increase the overall capacity of the A47, as well as deliver a safer route for walkers, horse riders and cyclists and other vulnerable users.

This is the first scheme in our A47 corridor improvement programme to be granted and the next few months will inevitably mean more collaboration, while we finalise the detailed design and with an anticipated start of works in autumn 2022.

We’ll also be working closely with our customers to ensure they are aware of this decision and will be engaging with them to keep them up to date.  As well issuing a regular scheme newsletter, we’re organising face-to-face public information events from August, and we’ll hold online briefings in September to provide information about the scheme and allow us to answer any questions they may have.

You can find out more about the scheme and its benefits and sign up for updates on our website www.nationalhighways.co.uk/a47blofield

For more information on our DCO and to view our DCO documents,  please visit our scheme page on the Planning Inspectorate website.
