Latest drawings for parking restrictions in the village centre

The parish council has been working with Norfolk County Council to design parking restrictions in the village centre roads so as to restrict all-day parking by commuters, and to improve highways safety in the village.

These restrictions will also mean that parking for short-term visitors and customers will be easier and so will support local businesses.

NCC is about to consult local residents about the revised design.

There are some areas proposed for double yellow lines where this will improve highways safety. (Reedham Road, village centre end of New Road and at junctions).

Some parking bays will be created, where parking is only possible for up to 2 hours, Mondays – Fridays, 9am to 4pm. This means that someone could park there from 2.00pm one day, and overnight until 11.00am the following day, but not all day. (Around The Green, village centre end of Old Road, The Street – centre – and opposite Crossway Terrace).

There will also be some areas with single yellow lines, where no parking will be possible between 10am and 11am, Mondays to Fridays. This will enable people to visit family and friends but, again, will prevent all-day parking. Local residents will be able to park for 23 hours per day but will have to move their car for the hour between 10.00 and 11.00. This type of parking restriction is easier to monitor for the parking enforcement officer, and less of an inconvenience for residents. (Birtles Way, Mill Lane, Priory Close).
